Boosting Europe's competitiveness: The Clean Industrial Deal and beyond

The European Commission is embarking on an ambitious journey to shape a comprehensive European Industrial Strategy, with competitiveness as a cornerstone of the twin transition toward a sustainable and digital future.

Inspired by Mario Draghi's influential report on the Future of European Competitiveness, the European Commission seeks to cultivate dynamic, innovative, and globally competitive enterprises across Europe. Yet, achieving this vision will require addressing a wide range of challenges, from geopolitical shifts and investment mobilisation to the creation of robust governance structures capable of steering this strategy.

In this panel discussion, we will explore how the new competitiveness agenda can successfully integrate economic growth, climate protection, and strengthen the European social model. What guiding principles should shape the EU's direction in the upcoming legislative term? How can these proposals be effectively translated into law? And what alliances will be necessary to drive this agenda forward?

Join us on Tuesday 15 October as we explore these critical questions with:

  • Anna Cavazzini MEP, Greens/EFA, Germany, Chair of the EP Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection
  • Kathrin Glastra, Senior Manager European Affairs, Electro and Digital Industry Association
  • Sebastian Mang, Senior Policy Advisor, New Economics Foundation
  • Sander Tordoir, Chief Economist, Centre for European Reform, London

Moderation: Anton Möller, Head of Programme - Green Economic and Social Policy in the EU, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union

Venue: Press Club Brussels Europe, Rue Froissart 95, 1040 Brussels.
