2nd MenEngage Global Symposium 2014
Engaging with Men and Masculinities for Development, Gender Equality and Social Justice in a Globalizing World
The 2nd MenEngage Global Symposium 2014 - Men and Boys for Gender Justice will be held in New Delhi, India, from 10-13 November. Its purpose is to find ways to engage men and boys for gender equality so that society becomes more caring and non-violent and gender relations become more harmonious.
This symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners, advocates and activists, government representatives and the donor community to share experiences, evidence and insights and seek direction on how men and boys can creatively contribute to gender equality, the new development paradigm beyond the MDG framework and towards a broader view of social justice.
The overall theme of the Symposium – Men and Boys for Gender Justice – has been arranged around seven ‘tracks’ or key themes on which presentations and discussions will be based.
These seven tracks are
- Violence
- Health and Wellbeing
- Poverty and Work
- Care, Relationships and Emotions
- Sexualities, Identities
- Peace building, Social Justice, Inclusion
- Making of Men – From masculinity to humanity
Accompanying the Symposium, there will be a global film festival showing 70 films and videos, that thematically fit into one ore more of the seven tracks of the Symposium and which are thought to be useful in initiating discussions around masculinities.
More information can be found on the Symposium website.
