“86 and Counting : Women Leaders in Kenya’s 11th Parliament”

As a way of documenting the journey of women leadership in Kenya, the Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) in partnership with the Heinrich Boell Stiftung (HBS), Regional Office for East and Horn of Africa has found it necessary to profile the journeys of women in leadership.

A publication of a landmark book, the “86 and Counting: Women Leaders in Kenya’s 11th Parliament” which documents the contributions of women leaders in Kenya as well as their stories of success and challenges in their journeys to leadership, shall be launch on the above date.

AMWIK has put the histories of women in Parliament in perspective. The stories ensure that the political struggles of women are documented as well as providing a platform for mentorship and role modelling through documentation. AMWIK takes the process of biographical research to enhance the public’s understanding of the motivation, courage and personal attributes of the women leaders.
