FrauenWelten 2026: Short Film Program Cambodia

As part of the FrauenWelten film festival, the Heinrich Böll Foundation is presenting a program of short films exploring feminist perspectives in contemporary Cambodian cinema.

What stories about women and social change are currently emerging in Cambodian cinema? The five short films combine personal experiences with questions of self-determination, social roles, and coping with violence. They give voice to perspectives that have gone unheard until now, tell stories of healing and solidarity, and showcase women who are working to improve their communities, their environment, and their future.

Following the short film program, there will be a panel discussion with the two directors, Socheata Van and Sreymom Mab. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask the directors questions directly.

Afterwards, we invite you to a small reception to engage in conversation with the directors.
