In the age of artificial intelligence, human has been increasingly interacting with machines equipped with AI in facing of algorithm-based mobile application, chatbot, social robot, kiosk, and other media. To facilitate machines communicating in more human-like manner, human-to-human communication is datafied to design and train machines. While human communication become data for machines, humans need to learn and develop new communication strategies to promote effective, ethical and inclusive interactions with machines. This fact encourages us to navigate new theory, empirical study, and practice in communication to understand the new opportunities and challenges we are facing with AI.
