Anne Klein Womens' Award 2026 to Awa Fall-Diop
Join us in celebrating the fifteenth Anne Klein Women's Award, our award winner – and Pan-African feminism!
This year's award winner, Senegalese women's rights activist Awa Fall-Diop, is one of the most renowned gender experts in Francophone Africa. She has been campaigning for gender equality for decades. Whether as a teacher, trade unionist, co-founder of numerous women's rights organisations or as a minister, her feminism is dedicated to the disadvantaged and builds bridges to the young feminists of Africa.
By awarding the 15th Anne Klein Women's Award to Awa Fall-Diop, the jury not only honours the feminist struggles in Senegal and throughout West Africa, but also reaffirms that these movements are neither isolated nor forgotten and that their fight for justice resonates beyond national borders, including in Germany.
With the Anne Klein Women's Award, the Heinrich Böll Foundation honours women who courageously and persistently advocate for human rights, equality and sexual self-determination. The award is endowed with 10,000 euros. The jury's statement, short biographies, portraits and photos of the award winner can be found here.
The laudatory speech will be given by Aminata Touré, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Affairs, Youth, Family, Senior Citizens, Integration and Equality of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (Alliance 90/The Greens). Dr. Imme Scholz, Chair of the Jury and Member of the Executive Board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, will explain the jury's decision.
