Artist Talk | (Re)constructed Uncertainties

Mona Harb (Professor of Urban Studies and Politics, AUB) in conversation with artist Sandra Schäfer, chaired by Joseph Rustom (architect & assistant professor and director of studies, ALBA)

On occasion of Sandra Schäfer's exhibition (Re)constructed Uncertainties. Haret Hreik - Mleeta the artist will discuss with professor Mona Harb the reconstruction of Haret Hreik after 2006 as well as the museum of the resistance Mleeta. Both projects are part of a military conflict and a geopolitical network in which architecture takes part in the production of space, landscape, and memory. Which role does architecture and urban planning play in a logic of brief intervals of warlessness? The participants will discuss these and other questions against the backdrop of their respective work emphases in art, architecture, urban and political studies.

The exhibition (Re)constructed Uncertainties. Haret Hreik – Mleeta at The Hangar - UMAM D&R in Beirut will be on until 24.10.2019.
