The ASEAN Economic Community and A Regionalism of the Commons

Alternative to Natural Resource Management

The School for Wellbeing will host a roundtable meeting with Dr. Bonn Juego to encourage exchange between academics and civil society on the Commons from environmental and wellbeing perspectives. Dr. Bonn Juego is a Filipino academic and postdoc researcher in Development and International Cooperation at the University of Jyväskylä in Finland. He specializes on the political economy of capitalist development in Southeast Asia with a focus on the study of the realpolitik of elite vested interests that are behind – and underpin – neoliberal socio-economic reform processes. He obtained a PhD in Global Development Studies from Aalborg University, Denmark, and an MA in regional integration from the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Dr. Bonn Juego will hold a presentation on the ASEAN Economic Community and a Regionalism of the Commons followed by two short presentations of Thai academics and a discussion round.

To familiarize with Dr. Bonn Juego's work, participants can have a look at his past contributions for Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung (hbs):
