‘Because we are women’ - Afghan activists tell stories of courage and resistance

These are stories of resistance and solidarity, of farewells and arrivals - and the unwavering commitment to a just world: for more than 20 years, medica mondiale and Medica Afghanistan fought together against misogynist structures and empowered women who experienced sexualised violence. The female colleagues from our Afghan partner organisation courageously raised their voices for women's rights in Afghanistan.

When the Taliban seized power again in August 2021, their lives were in danger. We managed to help 90 colleagues, and their families evacuate to Germany, where they have since built a life for themselves and continue to stand up for women's rights.

We would be very happy if you could join us on the opening evening. In addition to a short programme, the evening offers the opportunity to get to know the activists and their stories personally. 

A small snack and drinks will be provided.

Admission to the exhibition opening is free - please register by September 13, 2026, regardless. 
Guests are also welcome.
