Big Data vs. Resources
Visions of Bioeconomy - international literature festival berlin
The struggle for resources often leads to violent conflicts and environmental degradation. With the increasing digitization of genetic information, a new raw material is moving into the focus of the bioeconomy: big data. Who has access to these resources? Who determines what is researched? Who controls the new digital gene databases? Jonas Eika [DK] describes capitalist exploitation in a technological world, while Christiane Grefe [D] asks whether bioeconomy will be the new form overexploitation or the economic system of the future.
The conversation is held in English and will be interpreted consecutively.
