Böll.Global | After the US election 2024 – analysis and perspectives

The outcomes of the upcoming U.S. presidential and congressional elections will have significant repercussions not only domestically, but also on the world stage. These results will influence the direction of international cooperation in the years ahead, affecting areas from international security and the economic order to the pursuit of a just green transition. After the election results are in, we aim to discuss these key questions with experts from the United States and Brussels, exploring how the election results may impact the U.S., Europe, and transatlantic relations.

What shifts can we anticipate in transatlantic relations, particularly in terms of security, foreign policy, and climate action? Where might new opportunities for collaboration arise, and where could challenges persist? How should Europe and Germany prepare to engage with the next US administration? Finally, what effects could the election outcome have within the United States itself?

With:

  • Hannah Winnick, Head of Heinrich Böll Foundation Washington DC
  • Alexandra Geese, Member of the European Parliament, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (tbc)
  • Max Bergmann, Director, Europe, Russia, and Eurasia Program and Stuart Center, Center for Strategic and International Studies

Moderation: Jan Philipp Albrecht, President, Heinrich Böll Foundation, Berlin

The discussion will be held in English and German.
