Can the GCF Catalyze Inclusive, Gender-Responsive Local Climate Action Globally and in Latin America?
2020 is an incredibly important year for the Green Climate Fund (GCF), as the largest multilateral climate fund - the main public funding mechanism for the implementation of the Paris Agreement - enters its next operational phase with the first replenishment period (2020-2023). This is an opportune time to take stock: while the GCF has supported a diverse set of climate actions both globally and in Latin America, are those setting the right priorities? Does the GCF live up to its promise and mandate of a paradigm shift?
In this session, we are looking into the activities of the GCF in Latin America specifically, with lessons to be learned globally, to discuss what is necessary to make the Green Climate Fund the catalyst for more inclusive, gender-responsive climate actions with meaningful space for local actors and sustaining local benefits.
A diverse set of speakers representing various GCF stakeholders will share their different views and experiences in this lively session to provide perspectives on the way forward!
