Can South Africa be a green iron hub?
In recent months the shut down of operations and mass redundancies at Arcelor Mittal South Africa (AMSA) have focused significant attention on the viability of South Africa's Iron and Steel industries. The iron and steel is also a major contributor to climate change, accounting for 7 – 9% of worldwide carbon emissions. Reducing and eliminating these emissions is vital to efforts to limit the impact of climate change. This webinar will share perspectives on the prospects for Green Iron in South Africa, as both a way of revitalising the struggling industry while also eliminating the use of fossil fuels.
