Care & Support in a Time of Epidemic
What Do We Really Know About Domestic Violence During Covid-19 Lockdown in SA?
We take pleasure in inviting you to the first webinar in a series dedicated to better understanding how COVID-19, and the subsequent lockdown, have impacted on GBV in South Africa. In reviewing the available evidence for violence and reflecting on the experiences of shelter staff and women who made use of shelter services during this challenging time the series aims to open conversations about the future of policy and practice in relation to domestic violence and care work.
Join researcher Lisa Vetten, director of the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children Bernadine Bachar and News24 journalist Canny Maphanga to discuss the available evidence for violence during the lockdown, as well as the challenges of reporting on GBV during the pandemic.
