Cinema for Peace: „India’s Daughter“
"Monthly Screening" with director Leslee Udwin
It was a brutal crime that shocked the world: the Delhi gang rape and death of the young medicine student Jyoti Singh Pandey triggered international outrage and led to protests in India. In commemoration to this horrible incident Leslee Udwin shot a documentary film about “India’s Daughter” which was however banned in India in March 2015. As a reaction the film got international recognition for its very engaged message fighting against misogynistic attitudes. Together with other stars Meryl Streep showed the film in New York. She got support from Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson, Nandita Das, Freida Pinto, Helen Mirren.
