Masculinity-Conscious Municipal Policies

The hbs Tel Aviv, in collaboration with Hameorer training center for gender and sexual education and the Gender Studies’ Masculinities program at Bar-Ilan University, will hold unique conference on the topic of masculinity-conscious policy in local authorities.

At the conference, we will examine various aspects of municipal policies – in education, welfare, culture and leisure, health and more - from a gendered perspective that focuses on questions of masculinity.

We will examine the complex intersections between masculinity, family, welfare, education, security and protection in the local authority space, and offer strategies for promoting masculinity-conscious policy - with the aim of strengthening mental resilience, promoting personal well-being, reducing violence and promoting gender equality.

At the conference, we will launch the first booklet of its kind in Israel, on the topic of masculinity-conscious municipal policy. A booklet containing an extensive theoretical foundation, research from around the world, as well as recommendations for implementation in the municipal space.
