Doesn’t Berlin await me?

The coolest ambassador we’ve ever had is leaving Israel, and we’re left wondering: Where do we go from here?

After four years, H.E. Mr. Steffen Seibert is concluding his term as Germany’s ambassador to Israel. During this time, he managed to hike the Israel Trail, become one of the most beloved figures in the local diplomatic scene, and closely witness one of the most turbulent periods in the history of Israel’s relations with the world.

To mark his departure, the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Tel Aviv, in cooperation with Radical Idea House, is inviting for an open conversation of H.E. Mr. Seibert and Adi Shilon. Together, they will reflect on how Israel looks like from Berlin in 2026, what has happened to the special relationship between Germany and Israel since the start of the war, and what lies ahead, at a time when it seems the distance between them is only growing.
