Euro-sceptics in the European Parliament. Polish, Czech and German perspectives

The European Parliamentary elections in May 2014 were, according to some media, an earthquake for European politics. Europe was facing an unprecedented success of Euro-sceptic forces, benefiting from Europeans’ fatigue from crisis and mainstream political parties. One can doubt, if Euro-sceptics became an important player in the Parliament, but for sure, they now have a political momentum.
 
During an open seminar we will discuss the sources of Euro-scepticism in three countries of our region – Poland and Germany where the euro-sceptic parties are quite newly strong players on the political scene and Czech Republic that has already an image of a country of Euro-sceptic politicians as well as in Europe in general. Together with the Member of the European Parliament, Danuta Hübner, we will try to foresee what will be the role of Euro-sceptic forces in next 5-year-term in the European Parliament. To what extend can they influence the development of European integration, European Union politics and decision making? And how far will they influence the national politics from the EP?
