Green Tea Morning - Status of and next steps in Indo-German Climate, Energy and Development Cooperation

The Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, signed in 2022, lays the foundation for Indo-German climate, energy and development cooperation. At the recent RE-INVEST expo and conference in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in September 2024, the 'India-Germany Platform for Investments in Renewable Energies Worldwide' was launched. This platform can be a next step towards new and concrete cooperative actions. It aims to accelerate investments in renewable energy by, among other things, promoting business cooperation. Nine workstreams have been prepared for potential areas of collaboration on the platform - ranging from renewable energy development in Indian states and Indian solar manufacturing to women in solar energy. This is just part of the current round of biennial inter-governmental consultations between India and Germany, while the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business is also held in Delhi in late October 2024.

Heinrich-Böll Stiftung and Germanwatch jointly invite to a high level dialogue to discuss the status of and next steps in Indo-German climate, energy and development cooperation after these crucial conferneces and consultations. This volume of our Green Tea Morning roundtables will bring together enabling conditions and ideas for the 'India-Germany Platform for Investments in Renewable Energies Worldwide' and beyond.

Our Green Tea Morning dialogue series wants to contribute towards a common understanding of an inclusive, just and sustainable Indo-German perspective on climate and sustainable development policies in Germany.
