“How to unlock Africa’s untapped renewable energies potential"
Regional workshop for East African energy stakeholders
Venue: Hilton Hotel Nairobi (Mama Ngina Street)
Invitation only.
Renewable energies could play a pivotal role for socio-economic development in East Africa. However, in order to successfully compete with often highly subsidised conventional electricity production, supportive frameworks are necessary.
Any market creation requires stimulating regulation. These mechanisms need to be understood by Members of Parliament, Ministries, Regulators, the Media, the private sector and financial institutions. Last but not least, energy consumers from individual households to business and industry need to be involved in the decision making process to guarantee acceptance of the policy and to ensure that it benefits the widest possible group of citizens.
National and regional dialogues on the most sustainable and just energy future are required in order to foster nations and regions development strategies and goals. The profound value of sharing information and experience on “How to unlock Africa’s untapped renewable energies potential” is the motivation for the WFC and the Heinrich Boell Stiftung to conduct this regional knowledge exchange.
