Hungry - A Theatre Project

Venue: State Theatre, Pretoria
Synopsis: A research project about food security across the world, encompassing theatre companies from varied countries such as Brazil, Kenya, Belgium, Germany, India and South Africa. The South African State Theatre's research partner is the Cape Town branch of the German institution the Heinrich Boll Stiftung. The idea of the project as first envisaged by the Hamburg Schauspielhaus is to bring theatre companies from across the world together and share their research about food security in their respective countries with each other at a conference which took place in Hamburg in December 2013. The next step is for all the participating countries/companies to develop a theatre production based on the shared research. These productions will then be streamed online to all the participating countries.
