Forum Indigenous vision on Russia

On behalf of the organizing committee — Indigenous of Russia, Nomads Indigenous Collective e.V. and other Indigenious organizations and activists we are honored to invite you to the closed Forum “Indigenous Vision on Russia: Centering Our Voices, Resistance, and Knowledge.”

The event will provide a platform for dialogue on Indigenous knowledge, anti-war activism, and self-determination. The initiative aims to amplify Indigenous voices, foster community support, and develop strategies for the future of Russia’s Indigenous peoples. Key themes include women’s leadership and their role in activism.

The forum will bring together over 60 Indigenous activists, artists, researchers, and further selected non-Indigenous allies to advocate and promote Indigenous people’s rights.

For security reasons, participation is limited to personally invited guests.

The exact location of the event will be announced to registered participants by e-mail shortly before the event.

Safety Guidelines

To ensure a safe and respectful space for everyone, we ask that all participants read and adhere to the following:

General Safety - Chatnam house rule

Do not share address and information about the venue, including on social media (no tags, no location mentioned)

  • Photography (video) is prohibited during the forum. If you'd like to take a photo, please contact an organizers. An official photographer will be present.
  • Use secure communication channels. Do not publicly share, forward, or post the forum program or location. Please refrain from posting about the gathering during the event. Due to security and immigration concerns, we recommend waiting at least three days after the forum before sharing any related content.

Community Agreements

By participating in the forum, you agree to uphold the following:

  1. Mutual respect.
We value the diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives that each participant brings. We aim to keep the space accessible and inclusive.

  2. Language shapes space.
We use inclusive, non-discriminatory language, respect pronouns, and avoid harmful or oppressive/colonial terminology.

  3. Critique with care.
We welcome honest and respectful feedback. We ask questions, assume good intentions, and address harm with accountability and compassion.

  4. Make space, take space.
We are aware of how much space we take in conversations. All roles — artist, activist, scholar, donor, or organizer — hold equal value.

  5. Listen with care.
All panels will be held in a “fishbowl” format — an open chair on stage will be available for anyone who wishes to join the conversation. Please listen actively and respectfully. Take into account language access needs and avoid interruptions.

  6. Respect diverse perspectives.
We acknowledge different viewpoints and privileges, and are willing to sit with discomfort as we move from conflict toward collective strength.

Meals

Vegetarian lunch and coffee breaks will be provided as part of the forum program.

Final Note…

This forum is about learning, solidarity, and connection. Come with openness, curiosity, and a sense of humor — together, we will create an unforgettable experience.

Sincerely,

The Organizing Committee
