INVITATION TO A TREE PLANTING EVENT IN COMMEMORATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY

The International Day for Biological Diversity is celebrated to increase the understanding of the importance of biodiversity and increase awareness on issues surrounding it globally.

This year’s theme “Biodiversity for Sustainable Development” reflects on efforts towards establishment of a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the United Nations Post-2015 Development agenda and the key role that biodiversity plays in achieving sustainable development.

The Heinrich Boell Foundation on behalf of the event organisor, the Green Belt Movement in collaboration with the Clinton Foundation, invites you for a tree planting event in commemoration of International Day of Biological Diversity that will be held on Friday, 22nd May 2015, 9.30 am at Wangari Maathai Corner, Karura Forest.

The tree planting event will celebrate the role of local community groups in efforts to protect biodiversity through conservation and restoration of forests for sustainable development.

The event will feature key note speeches on forest biodiversity for sustainable development and the planting of one hundred trees thereafter.

We look forward to your participation to making this event a success.

Welcome!
