Jerusalem Talks
Which country do we talk about? The impact of media in times of war.
You are cordially invited to the second round of the Jerusalem Talks.
With reports of almost 2000 Palestinian victims and images of devastating destruction in the Gaza strip, as well as pictures of Israelis running for shelter under rocket fire, the current war in Gaza is the focus of national and international media attention.
Especially in times of war and crises, the media convey controversial perceptions of political violence. In what way do media influence the perceptions of war? What images of Israel and the Palestinians are created in the international media? Do they influence political decision making processes on the national and international level? Is “democracy in Israel facing its most difficult challenge in the history of the State?” (David Grossman).
The Jerusalem Talks will present and discuss the perspectives of Israel,
the Occupied Territories, and Europe, particularly Germany.
