Ladies of Splendor Graduation Ceremony 2014
An Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) Initiative
The Heinrich Boell Stiftung's Regional Office for East & Horn of Africa gladly introduces its mentee and partner in the quest for gender justice, the Emerging Leadership Foundation (ELF)!
This year, on 21st of November in Nairobi, a group of young ladies dubbed the "Ladies of Splendor", that underwent an intensive mentorship programme on various socio-economic, gender-related and cultural issues, will be graduating.
They will be awarded certificates of merit for their achievement, before being released into our world to impact the same positive change on others. The event, which is fully sponsored by the Heinrich Boell Foundation, Kenya shall see the presence of very high profile guests and speakers emerging from the Diplomatic, Political, Private and NGO spheres, all converging with a common noble goal...gender democracy and social/gender justice, through empowerment of women.
Attendance and participation in the event is through invitation only but you can follow us on twitter @HBSNairobi and @elfafrica
Who are ELF?
Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) is a youth centered non-profit organization founded in 2011 with the sole aim of growing the next generation of leaders through mentorship, leadership training and exchange programmes. We do believe in a Kenya where young people are empowered to be able to exploit their full potential and participate effectively in decision making processes at all levels of society. We further believe that young people are endowed with the requisite potential to make contribution to national transformation. At the moment, the reality is that youth are in the periphery of national discourse and many of them are not adequately prepared to meaningfully engage in processes leading to societal change. Some of the reasons for this state of affairs are; lack of good role models, limited capacity in leading change and limited space to engage. We therefore design and execute impact-oriented mentorship programs based on real needs and opportunities for youth leadership. We support them to foster successful roles in leadership and societal transformation.
We seek to reach 5million youth in the next decade, so that they can be at the fore-front of leading and inspiring change, to make sure that all people of Kenya and East Africa can live in Dignity.
