Lions of Science Awards Ceremony 2014

Venue: Goethe-Institute, Maendeleo House, Nairobi

Time: 18:00

Date: Thursday, 30th October 2014

The Lions of Science (LoS) is an association registered in Germany, with an affiliation/directorate in Kenya. The association aims at finding, nurturing and awarding young Kenyan innovators in the field of science, after undergoing a competitive selection process to identify feasible ideas and project proposals, which are then submitted via the association's internet platform (http://www.lionsofscience.org). They are then evaluated and finally shortlisted by a jury.

This year on the 30th of October 2014, the LoS Awards Ceremony will take place at the Goethe-Institute, Maendeleo House, Nairobi, following submissions that underwent a rigorous process of evaluation by a panel of experts. The experts then finally shortlisted ten projects that will lock horns on the gala night awards ceremony to be able to determine the winning projects for the LoS project cycle 2014. This is aimed at empowering young people to become more creative and innovative towards solving our day-to-day challenges.

The winners will be awarded certificates of merit for their achievement; price money for developing their projects; professional consultations and mentorship. The event is sponsored by the Heinrich Boell Foundation, Kenya; Goethe-Institut, Nairobi; Delegation of German Industry & Commerce (AHK) and Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Nairobi.

The event  will be graced by high profile guests and speakers emerging from the Diplomatic, Private and Public Sector, all converging with a common goal of ensuring that creative ideas and innovations that have solutions to our everyday challenges are bathed, brought forth and  natured into reality.

We at the LoS envision directing attention to an African reality of innovation, creativity, knowledge and ability.

Our Slogan....”If you are told to be a sheep you will have a hard time acting like a lion.”
