Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), India

Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) are events by YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change. They are local events with regional-national focus that empower youth to participate in climate action and decision making processes.

This year, the LCOY India is hosted by the Centre for Environment Education. The 2 day event on the theme 'Youth Action for Restoration Solutions' will give a chance to the young people (between the age of 18 to 35yrs) all over India who are working to tackle the climate crisis and are interested in learning about UN policy processes, to voice their suggestions and recommend their inputs on climate policies. The key outcomes of the discussions from LCOY India will be submitted and incorporated into the outcome document for Global COY.

The conference is primarily in English language, however the interactive and breakout sessions are flexible to be conducted in other common languages, like Hindi, etc. Since this is a virtual event, we encourage participation of young people from all over India with a barrier free accessibility to the differently abled, vulnerable as well as indigenous communities who have worked on climate change/climate crisis or ecosystem restoration.
