Multi-stakeholder Technical (MST) Workshop: Women in Agribusiness
Date: 30th April 2015
Time : 8 am – 3.30pm
Venue: Nairobi Safari Club, Lillian Towers
Invitation Only
Agriculture is a principal source of livelihoods for over two thirds of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa majority of who are women. However, women remain marginalized in the sector due to their limited access and control over vital assets such as land, capital and markets. Stakeholders have thus recognized the need to prioritize support to women in agriculture by developing different policies, programs and models.
The MST Workshop will bring together 30-40 selected experts and practitioners from farmer organizations, government, research community, the private sector and development practitioners. The discussions will focus on two themes: financing options and entrepreneurial capacities with practical models of financing and entrepreneurial capacity building models that have been succesfully implemented.
A report on the promising interventions/ models for implementation is expected as well as a policy brief targeting policy makers and implementers at national and regional levels.
A synthesis of the outcomes of the workshop will be presented for sharing at the gender forum thereafter.
