Ost/Wschód: German-Polish debates on the East

We are delighted to invite you to the first on-line debate which is going to be held within the initiative “Ost/Wschód: German-Polish debates on the East.” The debates will be conducted in English with the participation of two experts, one from Poland and one from Germany, respectively. Their goal will be to provide an answer to the questions on what are Poland's and Germany's policies towards the East and what should be the EU’s responses to the challenges facing the East that are the most pressing at the moment.

The first debate will focus particularly on Polish and German Eastern policies in general, similarities and differences between them and the perspectives of those countries  on the role of EU in the context . The issues will be debated by:

 Agnieszka Bryc, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (UMK)

 Wilfried Jilge, German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP)

Chairman: Adam Reichardt, editor-in-chief New Eastern Europe

The series of the debates is organized by Jan Nowak Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe (KEW) and Deutsch-Russischer Austausch in co-operation with the Warsaw office of Heinrich Böll Stiftung and the Foundation for German-Polish Co-operation SdpZ.
