Owning Her Space: A series of continuing conversations

Zubaan is organizing a two part webinar series on 'Owning Her Space' – a series of continuing conversations spread across two days that look at lived experiences of women from the Northeast, who are professional musicians.

The event is being held under the Cultures of Peace festival – a collaborative project between Zubaan and the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung India. For its second quarter in 2020, the project focuses on the theme of 'music' in the Northeast.

Zubaan, as part of its programming for Cultures of Peace 2020, presents 'Owning Her Space' –a series of continuing conversations spread across two days that looks at the lived experiences of women from the Northeast, who are professional musicians. The sessions have been curated by Anungla Zoe Longkumer.

Register below for the following sessions:

13 October 2020, 4 pm (IST)- Session I: Women in Music- Panelists Tipriti Kharbangar, Mangka, Sunita Bhuyan, MoArenla & Anoushka Maskey will be talking about the gendered dimensions of the music industry, and their own experiences of the same. The discussion will be moderated by Mercy Tetseo.

16 October 2020, 2 pm (IST)- Session II: Music across boundaries- Panelists Tipriti Kharbangar, Mercy Tetseo, Mangka, Sunita Bhuyan & MoArenla will share their experiences of creating fusion music across different genres and regions. The discussion will be moderated by Banamallika Choudhury.

The launch will be followed by a small discussion. Based on when you register, you will be sent an email with the meeting password the day before/the morning of the event.
