Research Sharing Workshop:
Women’s Asset Ownership and Reduction in Gender-Based Violence
Invitation to participate in the Landesa and Heinrich Böll Stiftung Research-Sharing Workshop on ‘Women’s Asset Ownership and Reduction in Gender-Based Violence’, 26 November, 2014 at India International Centre in New Delhi, India
Landesa / Rural Development Institute, New Delhi in partnership with Heinrich Böll Foundation, India organise, half a day research-sharing workshop ‘Women’s Asset Ownership and Reduction in Gender-Based Violence’ on 26 November 2014 at India International Centre in New Delhi, India
Based on qualitative-quantitative methods of our research, study findings shall be shared from the field, from the three States of India: Karnataka, Meghalaya and Telangana. The workshop will provide some evidence about policy and practice in ownership and management of agricultural land by women, and as a consequence, a general improvement in women’s economic status. The improvement in economic status does not by itself result in reduction in violence against women, but surely it does strengthen women’s economic agency and position, thus enabling them to assert their rights and bring about reduction in gender-based violence.
Please join us to share your experiences and insights in understanding further the relationship between women’s entitlement to land and reduction in gender-based violence within home and outside (fields and streets).
