Smart Growth - Opportunities for a Green Revolution
As part of the Blue Green Alliance's Good Jobs Green Jobs conference in Washington, DC, the Heinrich Boell Foundation will hold a panel discussion on "Smart Growth - Opportunities for a Green Revolution" on Monday, April 13 at 10:15am.
Description:
Today, we stand at the threshold of a great transformation that is taking place in different dimensions at the international, national and local levels. The realization that traditional growth strategies will only get us so far has spurred new thinking about the way in which modern societies deal with financial, climate and resource scarcity issues. New energy technologies and financial innovation have opened up exciting new industrial and economic possibilities. Smart sustainable initiatives lead to job creation, innovation and local sustainable entrepreneurship. Panelists will outline visions on how highly efficient technologies and an intelligent cycle of materials can stimulate a shift in our energy production, transportation and urban development.
Moderator:
Michael Williams, Vice President, Strategic Development, BlueGreen Alliance
Presenters:
Ralf Fuecks, President, Heinrich Boell Foundation
Melanie Nutter, Principal, Nutter Consulting and Former Director, San Francisco Department of the Environment
