Soil Atlas Launch | Kenya Edition 2025

Facts and figures about a vital resource

We are pleased to launch the launch of the Soil Atlas – Kenyan Edition 2025, a publication that examines the state of soil health in Kenya and East Africa while highlighting the urgent need for sustainable land management. Building on the Soil Atlas 2024 global edition by the Heinrich Boell Foundation and TMG Think Tank which highlights the global loss of fertile soil and the potential of sustainable land use for climate protection and biodiversity, the Heinrich Boell Foundation Nairobi now presents the Kenyan edition (2025), offering localised insights and solutions.

The launch event will take place on 27th February 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jacaranda Hotel, Westlands, with a virtual option available via Zoom Webinar. The event will bring together experts, policymakers, civil society and researchers to discuss critical issues such as moving beyond fertilizer subsidies towards regenerative practices that enhance soil health, bridging science and policy to strengthen sustainable land management frameworks, and fostering collaboration between academia, government, and industry to support resilient and productive soils.

The program includes key presentations by the Soil Atlas authors, editors, a panel discussion on soil health and policy reforms, and networking opportunities with key stakeholders in soil conservation and agricultural policy. Kindly confirm your attendance (physical or virtual) by 24th February 2025 via Christine.Gatwiri@ke.boell.org.

We look forward to your participation.
