Strengthening Rural Women's Voice and Agency in Climate (Finance) Actions
Rural women and girls are on the front lines of climate change. They are often the environmental stewards and the primary providers for their families and communities addressing already devastating impacts of climate change and propose climate solutions. Unfortunately, global climate actors (climate funds and development finance institutions) too often still see rural women and girls as victims but not as powerful agents to advance sustainable local solutions providing multiple lasting benefits while contributing to gender equality and women’s empowerment. This panel will discuss how to strengthen rural women’s agency and voice in climate actions by changing business-as-usual approaches.
