The view of the United States and of transatlantic relations is often reduced to President Trump and the relationship of the White House to Europe – “transatlantic relationship” means, however, much more than this!

This topic is the central focus of the current Böll.Thema magazine which strives to broaden and change a narrowed view of the United States – beacons of ecological transformation are featured alongside profiles of people who advocate for diversity, gender equality, climate protection, and the fight against racism. Above all else, what boosts confidence in these times, is this new generation of Transatlanticists – one that is younger and more diverse, and that reflects the plurality of our society. The current edition of the Böll.Thema demonstrates that the United States is different from how we in Germany often think.

To celebrate the magazine’s publication, we come together with the authors to discuss their contributions and take a look at a possible future of transatlantic relations.
