Housing estates represent specific urban areas not only in Czech Republic, but as well in the whole region of central Europe.

Looking for possibilities of future regeneration of these localities represents one of the most important challenges of local spatial planning and urban management. How to transform housing estates into successful flourishing neighbourhoods? How to reduce the threat of social decline? What experiences and good practices do we have in different countriesof central-Europe to share?

Book launch

Part of the event will also be a Book Launch Party of a publication ‘Housing Estates: What’s Next?‘. The publication summarizes the results of a research project of the same name, which searches for conditions of long-term sustainability of these areas, for possible ways of their adaptation and revitalization. The book presents 18 model case studies and two pilot projects of housing estates regeneration which illustrate the proposed strategies.
