Webinar- Alternative Worldviews: SHARING LIFE The Ecopolitics of Reciprocity
Book Launch & Discussion
We invite you to join us for Book Launch and Discussion on Ecology, biodiversity and charting alternative ecological and political landscapes for our common ecological future.
Evolving around the main essay, contributions to this assemblage reflect a common understanding that ecology and biodiversity needs to be reclaimed – and constantly generated – as a process of lived and living realities in a system of reciprocal relationships.
In this book-launch webinar, four authors share excerpts of their contributions. Drawing their individual alternative ecological and political landscapes, they re-create an image of such interwoven linkages and invite the audience to listen and to reflect about various facets of a common ecological future.
Speakers:
Andreas Weber, Eco Philosopher, marine biologist and author of the main essay. Based in Germany and Italy, Andreas develops a “Biopoetics”, a new understanding of life as an embodied process of subjectivity and shared meaning. Teaching Ecophilosophy at the University of the Arts, Berlin, he is adjunct professor at IIT Guwahati, India.
Shristee Bajpai, researcher-activist based in India and member of the environmental action group Kalpavriksh. Shristee’s research is focussed on exploring alternatives to mainstream development models, documenting worldviews of communities and networking.
Sonal Jain, working at the intersection of art, ecology, technology and activism in India and worldwide. Sonal has shown her work at prominent venues like: Solomon Guggenheim Museum, New York and The Venice Biennale.
Kaustubh Deka, teaches Political Science at Dibrugarh University, Assam, India. Kaustubh’s work concentrates on ecological politics, youth politics, identity assertion and inquiries into understanding the category of Northeast India.
Minna Salami, Nigerian-Finnish and Swedish writer, will moderate and contextualize the webinar’s dialogue. As founder of the multiple award-winning blog, MsAfropolitan, Minna connects feminism with critical reflections on contemporary culture from an Africa-centred perspective.
