Why are Gender Considerations Key for Climate Finance Actions - A Teach-In

During this interactive event, NGO experts working on climate finance and gender issues will provide a clinic on why the consideration of gender aspects of climate action is vital to ensure that the projects and programs supported by existing climate funds provide equitable benefits for men and women on the ground and are effective in the mid- and long-term.  A long Q&A session will allow civil society participants to pose questions for gender and climate finance experts working with various climate financing instruments.  A particular focus will be on the new Green Climate Fund, which has a mandate to start its financing with a "gender-sensitive approach."  The event will create an open space for civil society to engage in discussions about why gender equality and women's empowerment are crucial considerations for the climate finance discourse.
