Workshop: Stingless Bees - Pollinator Restoration in Urban and Peri-Urban Context
THE WORKSHOP
This is within the larger context of pollinator restoration in urban and peri-urban Context. Participants will have an introductory overview on stingless bees, their roles in the ecosystem, their nature and their needs.
There will also practice and observation of how to work with the stingless bees including honey harvest, colony transfer, where colonies can be set up, as well as the different types of hive structures that can be used.
1,000B/ person as deposit upon registration•
+ This workshop is co-organized by Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Southeast Asia and Go Organics. A deposit of 1,000B, however, is required for registration. The amount will be returned to the participant at the workshop but will be donated to the GO Organics Peace International, a non-profit organization based in Hong Kong, if the participant fails to show up at the workshop. The deposit can be transferred to another person but will, therefore, not be refunded if no attendance.

ABOUT THE TRAINER

Dr. Orawan Duangphakdee is Associate Professor and Director of Native honeybee research laboratory at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. Ratchaburi Campus. She completed her B.Sc. (Biology, first class honours) and Ph.D. (Biological Sciences. Entomology) at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She has contributed over 30 international publications. 8 book chapters and 2 textbooks focusing on dances and communications by honeybees. pollination services native beekeeping and smart technology in honeybees. She has successfully build up the beekeeping networks with over 500 beekeepers in Thailand and found a social enterprise business named Beesanc to build up a successive exploration of useful knowledge with benefits for Thailand and global beekeeping community.
