On Friday, 2 April, at 6 pm, Heinrich Boell Foundation Yerevan office-South Caucasus Region invites you to the presentation of “The Aesthetics of Humanity”, a collection of essays by the German writer and publicist Heinrich Boell. The event will be streamed online on our newly launched Facebook page։
This publication brings to your attention the political essays of Heinrich Boell, written between the 1950s and 1980s. The essays are translated for the first time directly from German into Armenian language by Gayane Ginoyan.
The book prioritizes topics related to the problems of the post-World War 2 crisis for Germany and the importance of civic stance in the light of political struggle. Drawing the readers’ attention to the post-war social and political crisis, Boell emphasizes the historical, political and public dimensions to overcome it. In this respect the book is more than relevant for Armenian society given the fact that after the latest war the country has to redefine its attitude towards life as the highest human value. Regarding civic stance, Boell highlights the necessity of raising voice and intervening as a main task for everyone in the society.
The speakers will discuss the content of Boell’s essays and their interconnection with Armenian current reality trying to shed light on the importance of political literature.
