In Afghanistan, women and girls are currently facing one of the most severe human rights crises of our time. The return of the Taliban has marked an era of gender apartheid and systematic repression, depriving them of access to education, work, and basic freedoms. Now, more than ever, it is crucial for the international community to amplify their voices and demonstrate solidarity.

The documentary The Sharp Edge of Peace portrays this relentless struggle for freedom and dignity - a powerful account of courageous women who, under the most challenging conditions, continue to hold onto hope and drive change. The film powerfully captures the resilience of Afghan women who took an active role in peace negotiations with the Taliban to defend their communities' fundamental rights and freedoms. Through intimate insights and a unique perspective, the film brings these women's determination into the spotlight, encouraging international support for their fight.

The event will present an exclusive 60-minute excerpt of the film, followed by a discussion with acclaimed director Roya Sadat and producer Leslie Thomas. Their stories and experiences offer valuable insights into the challenges and perspectives of Afghan women.

Programme:

  • Exclusive 60-minute screening of The Sharp Edge of Peace
  • Discussion with director Roya Sadat and producer Leslie Thomas

Join this significant discussion as we explore ways for the international community to show solidarity and support the struggle for human rights in Afghanistan.
