As the polls predicted the U.S. political map turned dark red. The Republicans in the House of Representatives, among them a significant number of climate sceptics, will have to decide what course to pursue in matter of energy policies and climate legislation at the national as well as the international level. What does this mean for the traditional coal and steel states that have been so massively hit by the financial and economic crisis? What future for a vision of a low-carbon economy and green jobs? What role will the Obama administration play in this economic, environmental and political field?
