Advancing a Feminist Paris-Compatible Financial System Reform
This CSW 67 NGO side event is jointly organized by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Washington, DC and Equidad de Género: Ciudadanía, Trabajo y Familia, Mexico
Simultaneous French and Spanish translation will be provided.
Addressing the global climate emergency and intersecting multiple biodiversity, food, energy, debt and poverty crises in a way that centers human rights and gender equality in all actions and prioritizes just transitions and fair and equitable social outcomes, will require enormous financial resources in the trillions. In addition to rich countries fulfilling their obligation to provide increased climate finance as a matter of climate justice, a broader rethink of the current financial system is needed, including urgently reforming international financial institutions, debt and tax structures to ensure all financial flows are compatible with the Paris Agreement and its core principles.
Speakers in this virtual panel discussion will provide a feminist analysis of identified shortcomings and propose concrete structural and systemic changes that need to be initiated now to shift existing power structures to protect people, their rights and our planet for current and future generations.
