The Kerry Framework – (Any)where to go from here?

The Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung cordially invites you to a discussion on the current Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations about a framework agreement. The Böll Debates are a loose series of discussions on current political, social, and environmental affairs which aim to bring together Palestinian and international representatives from civil society, government, and other sectors.

Topic          The Kerry Framework – (Any)where to go from here?

            Guests       Speaker: Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh

                               Commentators:

                               Diana Buttu, Political Analyst

                               Shawan Jabarin, Director Al-Haq

                               Moderated by Dr. René Wildangel

The current American administration restarted Israeli-Palestinian negotiations in July 2013. Since then Secretary of State John Kerry has traveled to the region on multiple occasions. Shortly, he is expected to present a “framework agreement” which will outline some basic principles for further negotiations.

So far, few details about the negotiations and the actual framework have come to light. We want to discuss with Dr. Shtayyeh, one of the key persons involved, the prospects for the negotiation process, the framework document, and/or a final status agreement.

After a short welcome by Dr. René Wildangel, director of hbs Ramallah, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh is going to give a briefing about the current situation in the peace talks and the Palestinian position. Diana Butto and Shawan Jabarin will comment on the remarks, followed by Q&A and discussion.

Location:  Heinrich Böll Foundation’s Office in Ramallah (near Friends Boys School, 5th floor, Conference Room)
