On January 22nd 2015 a “Joint List” consisting of the mostly Arab parties Balad, Hadash, Ta'al and the United Arab List was formed and participated in the Israeli elections. The common project received a lot of attention and managed to achieve more than 10% of Israeli votes for the Knesset, leading to an unprecedented representation of 13 Knesset Members. However, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land was not a major political issue in the block’s election campaign. While expectations are high, the question remains what this outcome will mean for Palestinian politics in general.
