National Implementing Entities (NIEs) Workshop, July 1st - 3rd, 2014
Invite Only Workshop
The National Environment Management Authority of Kenya (NEMA), supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung (hbs), Adaptation Fund (AF) and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) are for the first time in Africa, bringing together accredited implementing entities of the UNFCCC Adaptation Fund and African institutions that wish to gain accreditation from the Adaptation Fund Board.
The workshop will highlight common obstacles that African National, Multilateral, and Regional Implementing Entities face during the accreditation process; implementation of projects; as well as the opportunities; strategies and insights for effective utilization of funds disbursed from the Adaptation Fund. This meeting seeks to build a community of practice at fund operations level, where learning and open dialogue would build confidence and capacity at national level and enhance ownership of fund processes and project implementation. It will also provide a very useful forum for formulating a regional voice to inform ongoing developments in the international climate finance architecture such as the Green Climate Fund.
