Objective

The Putting People in People’s Parliament (PPIPP) project, in its fourth and last year, will be holding a final event to present and discuss lessons learnt and recommendations gleaned over the course of this project in reference to the main objective of PPIPP: To build a more capable and accountable state through leveraging mechanisms for direct political participation of the public to increase the capacity and performance of legislatures to fulfil their constitutional mandates to oversee executive performance, develop law and respond to the public.

About the Project

The PPIPP project is implemented by five project partners, namely the Dullah Omar Institute (DOI); Heinrich Boell Foundation Southern Africa (HBF); Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG); Public Service Accountability Monitor (PSAM); and Public and Environmental Economic Research Centre (PEERC). The project partners worked closely over the four-year period with organisations based in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces.
