2nd Transgender Council 2008

Make human rights work

It would be an honour to have you amongst the diverse bunch of transactivists expected from all over Europe to continue the success story of the 1st Transgender Council in Vienna 2005. We are proud to hold the council under the auspices of the mayor of Schoeneberg, Mr.Band, at his beautiful and historic mayor's hall (Most prominently J.F.Kennedy proclaimed here that he is a Berliner).

The ambiguous program consists of plenary sessions, workshops, get-together including the general assembly of TransGender Europe. After the hard work at day-time on human rights issues, transactivism and capacity building, at night Berlin's Trans(friendly) scene offers it's best: show, music, party, arts and lots of chances for networking.

Be amongst the first ones to hear publicly about the astonishing findings of the first comprehensive study on the living situation of trans people in Europe, (conducted by ILGA, Press for Change and TransGender Europe in 2007) with more than 2000 transpeople participating! Discussion of concept and (EU-)policy of the solely truly.
All-European Transgender network TGEU will be on the agenda as well as debating with politicians from the European parliament about the human rights situation of transpeople. We set up a comprehensive set of workshops on activism, skill-building, best practices and `how to do` to give you a wide choice on how to improve skills and tools in order to make human rights really work!
The council welcomes all people, defining themselves as trans, and aligned LGBTIQ, activists and partners - reflecting the colourful and diverse transfamily from all over Europe.
