Berlinale Talent Campus: Filming in the Eye of the Storm

Panel Discussion

Filmmakers will discuss their personal survival strategies on how to get by economically and artistically in crisis regions. Examples will be given from Congo, Palestine and India. In which ways do they tell their stories, which particular methods do they apply? Many movies, made by individuals with an ambition to interfere politically, have troubles finding their audiences, often as a result of not being related to already existing multiplying networks. What kind of support do filmmakers in troubled areas receive from Non Governmental Organisations? How can NGOs provide essential help for the survival of a thriving film community?

This panel is an attempt to look for strategies of linking
activist filmmaking with the networks of NGOs.
