The art of resistance in Mexico: coffee lives and graffiti voices for environmental justice

We, the Environmental Justice Network EnJust, warmly invite you to join on 28.11. from 19:00 to gain insights with two Mexican academics into concrete fields of action of the environmental justice movement in Mexico.

Together we would like to watch RICH MAN'S COFFEE, POOR MAN'S COFFEE: DILEMMAS OF ADAPTING IN AN UNJUST FOOD PRODUCTION SYSTEM by Celia Ruiz de Oña Plaza (approx. 45min). It's a documentary about the struggle and hope of coffee growers in Chiapas and Guatemala, where every coffee bean tells a unique story.

The evening will also open the exhibition GRAPHIC ART AGAINST GENTRIFICATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION IN THE COLONIA INDEPENDENCIA IN MONTERREY, MEXICO by Libertad Chavez-Rodriguez. It includes a graphic collection of artistic processes and productions, such as graffiti artwork, photography and other graphic artworks, which have emerged from the resistance movement against gentrification and the territorial and socio-environmental degradation of the centrally located neighborhoods Independencia, Tanques, and América 2 in the city of Monterrey, Mexiko.

The event will be held in English.

Die Kunst des Widerstands in Mexiko: Kaffeenarrative und Graffitistimmen für Umweltgerechtigkeit

Filmabend und Fotoausstellung

Herzlich laden wir als Netzwerk Umweltgerechtigkeit EnJust dazu ein, am 28.11. ab 19 Uhr, gemeinsam mit zwei mexikanischen Wissenschaftlerinnen Einblicke in konkrete Handlungsfelder der Umweltgerechtigkeitsbewegung in Mexiko zu erhalten.

Gemeinsam möchten wir uns RICH MAN'S COFFEE, POOR MAN'S COFFEE: DILEMMAS OF ADAPTING IN AN UNJUST FOOD PRODUCTION SYSTEM von Celia Ruiz de Oña Plaza (ca. 45min) anschauen. Eine Dokumentation über den Kampf und die Hoffnung der Kaffeebauern in Chiapas und Guatemala, wo jede Kaffeebohne eine einzigartige Geschichte erzählt.

Weiter wird an diesem Abend die Ausstellung GRAPHIC ART AGAINST GENTRIFICATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION IN THE COLONIA INDEPENDENCIA IN MONTERREY, MEXICO von Libertad Chavez-Rodriguez eröffnet. Sie beinhaltet eine grafische Sammlung künstlerischer Prozesse und Produktionen wie Graffiti-Kunstwerke, Fotografien und andere grafische Arbeiten, die aus der Widerstandsbewegung gegen die Gentrifizierung und die territoriale und sozio-ökologische Degradierung der zentral gelegenen Stadtteile Independencia, Tanques und América 2 in der Stadt Monterrey, Mexiko, hervorgegangen sind.
